How to Display Your Instagram Posts in Shopify
Social proof is one of the best ways to increase trust, establish your brand, and encourage conversions on your Shopify store. While Meta’s Facebook and Instagram have direct integrations between their platforms and Shopify, Shopify does not have a built-in tool for displaying Instagram photos on Shopify. Fortunately, Shopify’s third party app store has plenty of solutions, including our Shopify-Instagram feed app, Social Shopper Pro.
For a full explanation on how to use Social Shopper Pro, see our video below or read on.
Import Instagram Photos and Videos into Shopify
The first step to displaying your Instagram posts in Shopify is to connect your Instagram account to Shopify. Our app uses Instagram’s secure API to allow you to connect your Instagram account to your Shopify store with one click.
Click ‘Connect to Instagram’ to initiate Instagram’s authorization request. This one-step connection process does all the heavy lifting for you. All you have to make sure of is that you are signed into your Instagram account in the same browser.
Accept Social Shopper Pro’s request to receive Profile Information and Media. Your Instagram posts and profile information will be securely stored and can be removed from Shopify by simply deleting our app.
Import Your Instagram Posts
Once your Instagram account is connected, you can click ‘Refresh Instagram’ to import all posts to the app. To create a feed that can display anywhere on your website, give your IG Feed a unique title and select the photos to include. Each post’s description plus a link to the original Instagram post will automatically import to each post in your feed. Click ‘Save Feed’ to save this unique feed.
Click ‘New Feed’ to start creating another feed. You can repeat the process and save as many feeds as you would like to create multiple interchangeable feeds.
To display the Feed on your website, click the ‘Choose your feed:’ dropdown menu and select the feed you would like to display from your saved options.
Upgrading to our Pro plan will allow you to tag products in each post on your feeds. This allows customers to shop directly from your feed, adding another conversion funnel to your store.
Create an Instagram Feed
Once your Instagram account is connected and your Instagram posts, including images, slideshows, and videos, are imported, you can start to create your own feeds. Scroll down to locate the feed editor. To start, name your feed. You can create as many custom Instagram feeds as you would like to display in different locations in your Shopify shop and on different occasions.
Click 'Save Feed' to save the feed. You can then click 'New Feed' to start creating a new feed. With the Pro Plan, you will also be able to tag posts with products so customers could shop based on your Instagram posts. Simply click on a post, and start tagging products from your store. You will notice that all products published in your Shopify store will appear.
Tagging products in Instagram posts is a great way to connect social proof to your shopping experience. Customers can view tagged products while browsing your posts and begin their purchasing decision right then and there.
Select a Display Feed
The 'Display Feed' in the top section of the app allows you to choose one feed to display in your Shopify theme. All feeds saved in the previous step will appear in this dropdown. Click the dropdown and select the feed you want customers to see in your theme to get started.
Display Your Instagram Feed on Your Shopify Store Using App Blocks
Shopify App Blocks are available on any Shopify theme using Shopify 2.0 or greater. App Blocks are used widely by various apps on the App Store. They allow you to extend your theme by dragging and dropping app extensions through the theme customizer. Each app block will display as its own section, carrying functionality from the app it comes from to your store’s front end. If you have not used them before, we suggest reading up on Shopify App Blocks.
Navigate to ‘Online Store and click ‘Themes.’ From this page, select customize to enter the store customizer. Select the page you would like to add your Social Shopper Pro app block to and add a section to the part of the page you would like to display your Instagram feed.
Click ‘Add block’ and select ‘Social Shopper Pro.’ Finally click ‘Save’ to save and publish your changes. Your Instagram feed will now be embed in your Shopify theme. You can adjust the feed header text, font style, and font size. Customers will now be able to browse your Instagram Feed directly in your Shopify store.
